Hunted Projects is pleased to present an online exhibition of new works by Danish artist Mathias Malling Mortensen (b.1980). Six Frames From A Building is Mortensen’s debut exhibition with Hunted Projects.
Six Frames From A Building highlights a new series of intimately scaled paper cut-out works. In this exhibition of new works, Mortensen further explores pattern making and meditations of space that is characterized by the colourful contrasts between lightness and darkness and the physicality of both positive and negative space. Mortensen’s signature use of a blue reminiscent of Yves Klein blue is also present in several of the works, where upon the added reflection of natural light the colour becomes intensely vibrant and sublime. Furthering Mortensen’s interest in exploring both positive and negative space, the works incorporate a subtle layering through the combined fusing of acrylic applied layers of card.
Mathias Malling Mortensen (b. 1980) recently exhibited at Kunsthaus Essen, Sunday-S Gallery, Charlotte Fogh Gallery and Les Gens Heureux and did a series of monotypes with Printers Proof. Mathias Malling Mortensen is a native Dane, earning his degree at Danish School of Media and Journalism in 2013. He lives and works in Copenhagen.
