Cathrine Raben Davidsen: Swoon

Cathrine Raben Davidsen has created with SWOON (in Danish SVIME) a series of new works in which she explores the human figure as a metaphor for transformation. The works are in a cross section between drawing and painting, and their ease and transparency balance side by side with the seriousness of both the artist's personal memories as well as the subjects she is inspired by.

In connection with the exhibition, the conceptual artist book SWOON - A Play is published for Cathrine Raben Davidsen; An act written by the English author Charlie Fox, in which Cathrine Raben David's works are weaved in and out. Charlie Fox lets paintings and drawings act in concert with both lyrical and musical works, drawing in this way threads between different artistic expressions through the themes of life, death, identity and being. Cathrine Raben Davidsens themes; All created in Charlie Fox's own distinctive form. And in this case, the dramatic expression embraces these existential subjects and allows transformation to occur through the (self) realization of the characters throughout history.

Cathrine Raben Davidsen portrays the complexity between the vulnerable and the brutal through her picturesque personals, balancing the meticulous line drawing and detail with solved contoured contours and saturated image surfaces. All these teams are only known immediately, but at the same time stubbornly present in the works of the SWOON exhibition.

Cathrine Raben Davidsen (born 1972 in Copenhagen) is educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and at academies in the Netherlands and in Italy. She has exhibited widely in Denmark and abroad, and is represented in significant Danish and international art collections. Cathrine Raben Davidsen has created costumes and set designs for The Royal.
